Scan ID

Availability

Available in SDK v1.0+

The Scan ID capability uses BlinkID to extract information from government-issued identity documents. Supported documents include passports, identity cards, and driver's licenses from over 140 countries (more than 2,500 document types in total).

The extracted data is available in subsequent workflow steps and over the API. This step has no specific configuration options, but it supports custom rules.

Scan ID

After a document has been scanned, subsequent steps in the workflow can automatically use the extracted data.

Extracted data

The following categories of information are extracted when present on the document:

  • Personal details: full name, date of birth, sex, and residential address
  • Document details: document type, document number, issuing authority, and dates of issue and expiry
  • Nationality and country information, in multiple formats
  • Additional identifiers that vary by document type and country of issue
  • Document images: full scans of the front and back, the holder's portrait photo, and the holder's signature

Not all information is present on every document type. What's available depends on the document and the issuing country.

For the full list of supported document types, see the BlinkID documentation.
